Open Food Source

Challenge

Design a brand identity that fuses the polarized concepts of technology and nutriment. Open Food Source is a software technology that connects people to local food growers. The challenge is creating a brand that both encapsulates the modernity and efficiency of the software while also reflecting the organic nature of food and people.

Background

Open Food Source is a free software that provides food networks, also known as food hubs, with web-based management and logistical support for their sales operations. According to the USDA blog article, Getting to Scale with Regional Food Hubs, a food hub is a centrally located facility with a business management structure facilitating the aggregation, storage, processing, distribution, and/or marketing of locally/regionally produced food products.

Solution
